I’m looking at buying a Mares Syncro Power BC from my neighbor. It is a back inflate & I have only dove jacket style. If anyone uses or has used this bc, I would appreciate any & all comments or likes/dislikes. He’s asking me to make an offer (it only has 4 or 5 dives on it). Since this is a discontinued model, I’m not sure what a fair price is. Any info would be most helpful.

This MARES as with all back inflates will tend to "tip" you forward at the surface. Not bad or good just a need to know. Also does not have trim weight pockets to counter that. pockets are available to slide on the tank strap but that’s extra cost. MARES has always made a good product. As for a fair price it’s what you are comfortable paying. Also check it out closely to ensure that the bladder if in good repair. 4 or 5 dives and no service on it can be equal to 400 dives on a well maintained BC or if it was diving fresh or ocean. Fill the BC both by oral inflate and power until it burps then let it stand for some time to ensure a good seal. then empty on power inflate and see if it self inflates. If it passed these simple tests then check out ebay to see what prices are. I’m sure that’s more "advice" than you wanted, but I hope it helps.
