Wondergat is a shore accessible fresh water dive site, located in South Africa. The maximum depth is over 150ft/46m. The average visibility is 31-35ft/9-11m. This dive site provides bathrooms and airfills. Training platforms are available.
The pool is a natural sinkhole of about 75 x 100m on the surface. Depth ranges from 5m to a whopping 70m! Temperature can be anything from 10 degrees to 20 depending on seasons. Visibility ranges from 10m to about 25m depending on depth and time of day.
Wondergat doesn’t have sunken wrecks and things but it is home to the sharptooth barbell and the southern mouth brooder. How these fish have servived in Wondergat is a wonder. Only wall dives are done in Wondergat because of the extreme depth. There are also caves.
