Johnston Atoll is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located at Pacific Ocean, , Marshall Islands. This dive site has an average rating of 4.00 out of 5 from 1 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 91-100ft/28-30m. The average visibility is 51-60ft/16-18m.
Located SW of Hawaii. Tropical Island/Bird Sancutary converted to military us for a chemical demilitrization plant. Recently deativated and returned to a bird sanctuary. Open only to military and cilvilian contractors during operations.
Diving consisted of natural reef dives with ranging depths. Excellent visability and numerous natural wild life. Some man placed attractions included vehicles from the atolls expanssion.
Johnston Atoll is a 50-square-mile (130 km2)
atoll in the
North Pacific Ocean[1] about 1400 km (750
nmi) west of Hawaii. There are four islands located on the
coral reef platform, two natural islands, Johnston Island and Sand Island, which have been expanded by coral
dredging, as well as North Island (Akau) and East Island (Hikina), an additional two
artificial islands formed by coral dredging.
