One of the really important skills that will make you stand out in the dive industry. Actually being qualified to service tanks. You can notch it up there with equipment maintenance as well.

Although VIP is a scuba industry standard the requirements of VIP vary from country to country. In the USA VIP has legal liability issues that are based in DOT, OSHA and CGA regulations. Although a few VIP programs exist only one seems to have legal standing and acceptance that of PSI/PCI.

If you are filling cylinders only for yourself and your fill station present no threat to a neighbor you may not need to worry about that liability.

If you are filling for others or for commercial gain then legal liability and insurance become of great concern as does working to standards that fulfill legal acceptance.

Thanks for that comment RAWalker. Yes I know there are legal liability issues in the states and there are now 2 programs that have a legal standing, PSI/PCI and now CTS (cylinder training services) who are working with SDI/TDI. We offer training with the official certification through CTS, some of the program which covers he regulations in the states. We put the warning in at the beginning of the video to reinforce the need for training when working with scuba tanks. I hope you enjoyed it!
