This is my third weekend at
Dutch Springs, PA this year with
Sterling Silver Scuba... Earlier this summer (July 7-8, 2007) I did my Open Water Certification with buddy Nicola Sanna, my boss at work and good friend. During Labor Day weekend, I did my Advanced Open Water while my son
Louis did his Open Water Certification. This weekend I`m here again with Louis so he can do his Advanced OW while I do my Wreck specialty. It`s a little windy, the air temperature is at most 70F.
This is a weird weekend. It`s my 25th anniversary; I just got back from Cozumel; a few days ago I spent 11 days diving (26 dives) in the warm water 83F.... Today, I have to wear a 7mm in 50-65F cold water.... It`s really cold; I think this is the last time I dive in such cold water with a wet suit. I`m thinking to do my dry suit certification next month and get a dry suit as soon as I can afford it.... Nevertheless, I have a great time with Louis and lots of fun learning how to use a reel, visiting the various wreck (crane, boats, Cessna, Sikorsky, trolley, etc.) and the Saturday night dive. At night, we sit around the fire camp eating smores...
This weekend, I`ve done a few short dives and a few longer ones. I totalled 8 dives, but really only consummed 5 tanks....
On Saturday, the first few dives were with the Advanced students. I tooks some pictures while they did their first deep dive with Dan Eddinger. I was happy to do a night dive with
Jason Davis and Louis. Louis was a bit nervous at first, but he did very well. We did a 100m without light as part of the Night adventure dive. Then, we visited the Sikorsky chopper and I badly cut my right thumb. It took a couple hours to stop the bleeding... This is a good lesson as one should avoid to touch any wreck...
On Sunday, while Louis completed his Search and Recovery adventure dive and Peak Performance Buoyancy dive, I`ve completed the wreck specialty requirements with
Kevin Davenport, an experience Tech diver with whom I did my Advanced a month earlier.
