Spending a little time at our place in the Turks and Caicos after a 10 day critter collection expedition in the Bahamas with the staff of the New England Aquarium in Boston. Watch for highlights from the trip on an upcoming episode of ScubaVisions TV (www.ScubaVisions.TV or subscribe via iTunes). Very successful trip - just under 400 fish representing nearly 60 different species were collected and will soon be on display in the tropical exhibits at the New England Aquarium. Oh, just to avoid raping the reef charges, all this work is done under a permit from the Bahamian government and under the supervision of an observer from their conservation department. The New England Aquarium is also actively involved with REEF, the Bahamian Government, and several other aquaria and NGOs in an ongoing Marine Conservation Program in the Bahamas. One other note: lionfish are out of control in the Bahamas. Saw them on nearly every dive from Bimini up through the Berry Islands.
