Manta House and the Sand BarHere is a picture of the Sand Bar. It is a great place to grab a bite to eat and hang out with your new friends. The food is good and the beer is ice cold. Since it is right on the beach, you can enjoy talking about the days dives while watching the sun set in the ocean. Just be sure to keep your eye out for the green flash. Today we dove with Mitch from Blue Water Divers. Mitch is a great boat captain. He took us out to two different reefs both had a great wall face that dropped into the blue abyss. Lots of beautiful fish and corals.
Later this evening Mitch and his band are playing at the Salt Raker Inn here on Grand Turk. His brand of island music is truly a good time for all.
Kathy and I spent the afternoon snorkeling in the reefs just out from the sand bar. You can see all the shells she collected if you look at the photos that I have posted, as well as a few other views...
We had lunch at the Sand Bar today, again. Kathy had a chicken quesada and I had a grouper sandwich. Both came with a salad as we opted not to have the fries. It was filling and you can see the prices on the photo of the menu. Not bad considering this is an island and everything is imported.
We truly hope you can get to come to grand Turk. Thee are seven resorts to stay at and private rentals also. The island uses water caught during rain and stored in cisterns. It’s OK for most things but not what you would want to drink. A case of bottled water is $7.00 at the local mini store, so stock up. It’s about $1.5-2.00 per bottle elsewhere on the island. Most beers are $4-5 but there is a grocery store not to far away, so get it there and save. Just don’t bring it to any of the bars. Have it in your room, by the pool, sitting in the shade, you know.
Tomorrow we have another two tank dive with Blue Water. One of the dive groups saw a small group of dolphin on their dive today, Kathy is hoping to be as lucky tomorrow.
I’ll keep you posted.
