Presently there are out-of-control fires throughout Southern California which are stoked by our Santa Ana winds that flow down from the high deserts and through our canyons with devastating results. However, a stroll to the beach this afternoon revealed a beautiful consequence of the fires. A mid-afternoon (3:00 PM) sunset that just knocks your socks off. The accompanying picture was not changed in any way. Catalina sits in the background clear as a bell, while a sinister smoke cloud hovers overhead, and dolphins play in the red tinted ocean. Quite a site, but very costly. Additional pictures can be seen at the following link.: http://www.ocdiving.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=32279
