About five years ago, I was on a cruise ship where my ladyfriend at the time was looking at the list of excursions and she signed me up for my first dive. It was a discovery dive in the Grand Caymans. They started with a quick lesson, got us into our gear and then for a quick checkout. Breathing underwater was a challenge at first. The divemaster said based upon the look on my face that he thought I would never make it. I took on some salt water while doing the checkouts. Well, after four tries, I finally got it and then we headed out. Didn`t see much during that dive, but the experience was well worth it. Two days later, I did my 2nd discovery dive at Xcaret off if Playa De Carmen. It was beautiful. My friend said it was one of the best dives she had ever been on. While the relationship never really went past that trip, the experiences gained then is what led me to get into diving.
