What dive camera do you carry? I am looking to upgrade to a better camera and don’t want to spend more than 1000 bucks. Which ones are best? If you are selling a decent camera let me know. I am looking at no less than 8 mega pixels My mini-reefmaster is horrible and I will be selling it on E-bay.

m_grieco - 4/06/2009 10:29 PM I know you mentioned you have a reef master (Sealife Camera), and said it worked horrible for you...do you have any flash with that? I also have a Sealife camera (the DC600) and it’s only 6.1 MP. I use the Sealife wide angle lens and also have the pro-digital flash with the flash diffuser and I am very happy with the camera (and the whole set-up is under a $1,000). Check out my pictures and I think you’d agree the results are pretty darn good (for a hobbyist). I have seen and dove with people using much fancier rigs than mine, but I’ll just let the picture speak for themselves...you decide.

diversreviews - 4/01/2009 6:02 PM I am scrounging for content. I have just set up a blog called http://diversreviews.com and I am trying to get together as much kit as possible. I dive with a cannon ixus 750 in a housing and it works great for me as it has a color correction setting. But its a bit too point and click to be proper diver bling. I don’t have any cameras on the site yet but if one of you gentlemen might be so kind as to post a review of their camera on diversreviews it would be much appreciated. Thanks Rob Wilson

Zig - 3/31/2009 9:06 AM I was able to get the following set-up for [$800: Canon Powershot 790is, the Canon-brand underwater case, Sea & Sea tray/arm set-up, Sea & Sea YS-25 Auto strobe (was on clearance), and the sync cable. You can see some of my pics on my DB site. Due to the vis here in SoCal, I primarily was the camera for macro. Good luck!

GypsyDiver - 3/31/2009 6:54 AM I set my budget at 1500 for both camera and housing. and then I want to add on every month or so with different things. I was told to also look at NIkon among others. In the end, it comes down to what you like and what you need it to do. Good luck with the search

GypsyDiver - 3/31/2009 6:54 AM Are you looking to stay with a point and shoot or do you want to make the jump to DSLR? What are you goals with the camera? Are you looking to just take pictures underwater or compete in photo contests? Do you want video also? Do you want to get a system you can build upon? These are alot of the questions I was asked during my recent search for a new camera. I have an IPC (Idiot Proof Camera). You can see my pictures in the photo section. I saw some great deals at Beneath the Sea on every camera system. I recommend to talk to your local dive shop or let google do the looking for you. I know that a couple of different companies do Demo days at Dutch Springs each year. I was also told to go down to Sunset House and take a course with Cathy Church and try a bunch of different camera they have down there for rent. I currently am looking to by an Olympus DSLR.

pd2div - 3/31/2009 4:38 AM Hey Dude, I have used Sea & Sea. The last one I had was the 500 series...It took great pictures. I soon broke it (don’t asked-embarassed)...i picked up the 800 series...with an external strob. It takes great pictures for the price. I use this to document students experiance and pass it off to them to show thier friends. I have found that no matter what camera you use...you will have to use some type of photo software to enhance your underwater photos.

nauidiver - 3/30/2009 5:18 PM Bill -  Right now I use a cheap camera but I don’t take a lot of pictures as of right now so I’m not sure of the best camera to use. If I was to guess I would say that it depended on the type of diving you do (or) were going to use the camera for. But there again I’m really not sure.
