Channel Islands Dive Trip ReportHi Folks,

Went out on a three day dive trip aboard the Conception out of Santa Barbara with my wife, Marti, and 22 other divers. Most of the divers signed up through Laguna Sea Sports, and some were from another shop, but this left the boat at about half capacity which was really nice. We boarded on Wednesday night and left port at 4:00 AM Thursday morning. When we smelled coffee Thursday morning we were at San Miguel Island. I was just getting over a cold and couldn`t clear my ears on the first dive so I stayed out the rest of the day while we traveled to Santa Rosa Island for the remainder of the dives that day. We stayed there that night with steak for dinner, and traveled to Santa Cruz Island early Friday morning, and stayed there moving to several dive sites until we departed for home Saturday afternoon. I felt better the second day and was able to complete all the remaining dives.

The Channel Islands were definitely made for dry suits, but over half the divers wore wetsuits and seemed to do OK. The first day was overcast with 53F water so it wasn`t pleasant, but the remainder of the trip was sunny and nice with water temperatures ranging from 55F-63F. The dive boat Conception is a first class operation from port to port. Comfortable, spacious, lots of creature comforts, gourmet meals three times a day with snacks in between, good air fills, and an absolutely great crew. One of the best experiences I have encountered in the dive industry, and I would recommend Truth Aquatics to all of you.

I will not provide a detailed dive report, but will respond to any inquiries off line. Pictures are posted at: http://www.ocdiving.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=20522&g2_navId=xdeb92dc4.

Safe diving,
Wayne
