I just returned from a weekend trip to Beaufort NC. What a great experience. This was my first, boat, ocean, wreck, and shark dive all in one weekend! I don’t think it could have been any better, beautiful weather, 40’ vis, warm water, and 3 awesome wreck dives. We dove the Indra on Saturday afternoon, and the U-352 and the Spar on Sunday. This being my first boat dive, I’ll admit, I was a bit nervous for the 2 seconds it took me to jump in, but after that...... Well lets just say it was the coolest thing I’ve done to date!
I really want to thank Teresa, and Calvin Shaw from Aquatic Pleasures Dive Center in Kings Mountain NC for putting together the trip, and to Discovery Diving in Beaufort NC, for their fantastic staff and facility.
I brought so much back from that trip. Learned alot, made some new friends, and succeeded in accomplishing pretty much my entire summer’s worth of goals in one weekend. All I really wanted was to dive with the sharks, and boy did I.... And I’ve wanted to see that sub since before I was even interested in diving, or certified. I had taken a trip to Morehead City NC with a friend to Olympus Dive Center, for her to have an interview. I saw the artifacts and pictures of the wreck, and I just wanted to see the wreck for myself.
I just can’t wait for my next trip coming up with Cape Fear Diving on the NC coast. I won a dive trip there from my club, "Foothill Divers", on my first day as a member in the treasure hunt they organized. Its gonna be rough diving the quarry now that I know the water at 113’ does not have to be 48 degrees..... lol. Can you say "Dry Suit Certification"!
Thanks again to everyone for such a great trip, and experience. Its one I’ll never forget!
