USS Oriskany USS Oriskany

The trip that never seem to give us the opportunity to take…the Mighty “O”. This has been a dive trip that me and my long time dive buddy have been planning forever it seems. It was one of those trips you have always wanted to do but for some reason timing was never on your side. I’m one that believes everything happens for a reason, and that perhaps things don’t transpire quite as soon as you would like for that reason…whatever it may be? This trip happen to be the first “official” club trip of...
Spearfishing the Gulf

Ever had that odd feeling you are being watched? How about having that feeling only to get back on the boat to hear your buddy tell you that not one, but 4 sharks were checking you out real close? That for sure is not the best feeling in the world, but a manageable risk we take when we dive in an environment conducive to those conditions and hazards. Great diving at Clear Springs last weekend in Terrell, TX. Great Viz, great weather, and just a great time! Down to about 19 feet, swim suit only needed...past that you may need a 3 mil? There were a lot of divers out there this past weekend, but for the most part no problems. By the way if anyone was there and knows the jerk that took our "training" weights for my advanced search and recovery students tell them thanks that was real nice and i hope they had trouble swimming them back to their do...
Florida Springs Dive

Well what can I say about diving Vortex Springs in January? Insane comes to mind to start with. With average air temps of 40 degrees and water temps between 65 and 68 degrees, it was a disaster for my open water students. We actually had to get into the water to keep warm! It may have been ok if we all had dry suits, but that was not the case. I will have some pictures to upload real soon I hope. It was fun all in all because we made the best of what we had, but for sure something to think about...
