IDC is ending
I am sitting in the shop waiting for the boat to come back, wondering if everyone passed. This IDC took 12 days plus 7 days of extra study and coaching. Of course we will be very proud if the guys pass. Yesterday was the first day and unfortunately one of the boys did not pass the standards exam so he has to come back for the next IE, which hopefully will be the first week of September. IDC day 3
Today we were ready for the pool session. We did the 20 skill circuit,which went pretty good. I still had a few small tips for the staff candidates, and of course Martin handed out a few 3’s but there were also a lot of 5’s. The rescue skill needed a little practise,but eventually every one felt confident. The afternoon was about MT (micro teaching) Tomorrow we will listen to the first presentation. We are running a bit behind schedule, but that is mostly because the 5 part seemed a little harde...

IDC
Well in 2 days we have another IDC starting, this one is going to be different form all the others we have done. We have 6 candidates and 3 maybe 4 staff instructor candidates. The OWSI candidates are, 2 from the US and 4 from Costa Rica; and this is what makes it interesting. The IDC will be in English and most of these guys have a little problem with English. They will do their presentations in Spanish as well as their exams, but other than that it will all be English. The Staff instructor can...
