Getting more dives and experience
Well...I went on the Bonaire trip w/ my boyfriend, and it was absolutely amazing. Having only been diving in local quarries, and then a few dives off Oahu last year, I was unprepared for just how TEEMING with life the reefs were off Bonaire. So many different varieties of fish and coral and other marine life. Unfortunately, I had an issue with my underwater camera and will need to get a new one, so all I have are above-ground shots. 1st dive of the year
My boyfriend visited last week from England, and we squeezed a couple of afternoon dives into his trip. Cold as the water temp was, we had a great time...despite the sunburn I got. ;) It took us a little while to get set up at Blue Springs Quarry, in Waldron, Indiana, due to the mass amounts of people there that day (I`ve never seen so many at once at Blue Springs!), and due to a pesky tank strap that gave me some initial trouble. Missing Summer
Due to it being winter, and all, I`ve not really got a whole bunch more to report...EXCEPT that I took Night Diving / Limited Visibility last week, and so I have another course that I must finish with a checkout dive once it warms up around here. I had to forgoe the Deep Diving Course I signed up for, so that I could afford the deposit for Bonaire (which happens in June), but I`m hoping to take it the next time it comes around. Once I take that one, and Wreck Diving, I might be done for now and ...

Done for the year, alas.
I haven`t gone on any dives since my last entry, due primarily to the weather. It`s been freezing! It`s for this reason, also, that my open water checkout dives for the Diver Stress & Rescue and Underwater Navigation courses have been pushed back to next spring. What a bummer! I`d been hoping to at least get the DS&R one all finished, so that I would be eligible to start volunteering at the local aquarium & the zoo over the winter. But alas, it`s just not going to happen. Last weekend
Went to Blue Springs this past Sunday, Sept. 10th, with new dive buddy Pat Harrison, and got to use my new camera for the first time. It`s one small step up from a disposable, but it`s sturdy and it`s got a flash, and - the best part - the pics came out! Admittedly, the visibility got down to only a few feet in the quarry, in some places, and so the shot I really really really wanted (of me posing next to the underwater monster) is pretty obscurred by silt.
