White Point Jan 17, 2008
Today I went to White Point with Josue. White Point is known for its hot vents and was a hotel and bath house that an earthquake distroyed. The parking is right on the beach and the beach is south facing. Yesterday I went and bought my second 120 steel tank so I would not have to deal with having to play with weight switching from one tank to another. Nov. 3 2007 Cabrillo Jetty
We dove on the Jetty for our second dive due to a malfunction in my buddy’s tank. We drove to the shop and decided since Cabrillo was closer we would just dive off of there. Unlike last time the water near the jetty and among the seaweeds were very hazy with a vis about 5 feet and surge was pretty strong. White Point Nov. 3 2007
I went on a dive at White Point around 9:30. It was over cast and about 65 degrees. We went out about fifty yards and dropped down. The deepest we went was about 30 ft. The water was fairly clear with a vis of about 15 ft to 20ft. Lots of Eurchins and small fish, no bugs to speak of. Was not able to find any hot vents, but they may have been deeper. We went to White Point to check out the kelp beds or the Hot Vents but vis was so bad I could hardly see my hand let alone my dive buddy. We packed up from there and drove to Cabrillo beach. Everyone I have talked to knocked it but we stayed close to the jetty and found some kelp a few feet from there. We saw urchins, crabs, sea stars, bunch of fish including a school of surf perch on the return, sea aneminea and other life forms. I loved gliding through the kelp and even noticed some sea grass ...
