Panama Diving Overview
Although I live in Panama, I don’t dive here for personal reasons. If you are an advanced diver, go to Coiba. If you are a diver with high expectations, don’t choose Panama. If you want to see Panama, and do a bit of diving on the side, then the following information will get you started on planning your trip. (If I’m home when you pass through Panama city, let’s meet up for meal and a chat.) extracted from Americans in Panama Yahoo Group, APR11, author: Richard ? "There is diving around Boca Ch...

It’s a global catalogue and easy to search (try common name lion fish, for example), presenting a wealth of other info to explore. http://www.fishbase.org/home.htm The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute has recently released a similar system for the eastern Pacific inshore species only. It’s a bit slower, and more scientific in approach, but a good primer on this particular area: http://www.neotropicalfishes.org/sf...

Ocean Dots: Island Imagery
While researching my next trip, I found this web site, http://www.oceandots.com/ "Oceandots.com is an image-based atlas of the world’s islands and reefs as viewed from low earth orbit. Presented in a gazetteer/image gallery format, each entry consists of at least one image and a small amount of background information on the island." The owners of the site don’t identify themselves very well, but the sources include NASA data, so I expect it is a scientific collaboration project....

Nudibranch Nirvana
Check out this set of nudibranch photos!!!! No lettuce leaf; he’ll have to spend some time in Bonaire. :>) But oh the beauties he did see, and what amazing poses. My favorite is the one with a blenny perched on top of the nudibranch while it feeds on a sea pen. http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2008/06/nudibranchs/doubilet-photography...
