Florida Road trip, January 2012 Florida Road trip, January 2012
oceanbound - 2/25/2012 9:48 PM
Road Trip: Manatee Springs, Crystal River, & Venice, Florida Dave suggested we revisit the Manatees at Crystal River. A friend of ours, one of South Florida’s best fossil hunters had also invited us along for a fossil find at the Peace River this weekend. This got me to thinking, and planning and came up with a road trip. As Dave had not dove Manatee Springs and I had, I thought this would be the perfect time to have a long weekend combining two of our favorite past times: diving and fossil find...

Instead of writing a blog this time I decided I would just create a side show of the trip. Of course it’s not all the pictures but I think it’s the best of what I took. We dove a week off Freeport, GB with Grand Bahama Scuba and Fred & Melissa Riger. Highly recommended, and I can’t say anough good about them. Hope you enjoy the side show. Here is the link in case I can’t figure out how to add it to the blog. http://www.associatedcontent.com/slideshow/102881/scuba_diving_in_freeport_grand_bahamas...
another year has gone by another year has gone by
oceanbound - 3/22/2011 1:13 AM
Another year has gone by since beginning my journey of SCUBA in 2008. WOW! I’m into my third year of diving. I would have never thought that something I wanted to learn in order to pass some time would turn into such an addiction! For those of you who don’t know me or read my past blogs, I learned to SCUBA at the age of 45. I now have over 260 dives. Would have been more dives but the past year has been difficult for most divers with our economy, and the oil spill. But I’m grateful for each and ...
Never get too complacent

Never get too complacent no matter how many dives you have or how experienced you think you are or even how well you and your dive buddy work together. My buddy and I went to Venice this past weekend. It was fun but have you ever have one of those days that things keep going wrong? I’m one of those divers who if several things on the surface go wrong, I usually back out of the dive, believing that Karma is trying to tell me something. Unfortunately this wasn’t one of those times. This time nothi...

oceanbound - 3/24/2010 12:29 PM
Valor, November 29, 2009 sailing - Grand Cayman, Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel out of Miami My review as a scuba diver and cruiser. After researching airfares and resorts decided that we would try diving some ports thru a cruise ship. i’ll have to say that for the most part it worked out fine. I wanted to write a review for other divers as before I left on this cruise I could not find the information I was looking for about dive ops and such thru the ship. so here goes: First let me say that I am ...

Wednesday, March 10, 2010 - Wow, it’s been almost a year since that dive at Morrison springs (see my first blog) Hard to believe I’ve come so far since that dive. I’ve been to so many different places, dove and seen so much in less than two years since becoming a certified diver. I now have over 150 dives. Just a few of the places I’ve dove include Palancar Gardens in Cozumel, the Lost Anchor in Belize, Round Rock in Grand Cayman, swam with dolphins in Roatan, the Oriskany in Pensacola, The Miss...
Dive journal (of a newbie)
oceanbound - 3/15/2009 6:38 PM
Friday, March 13, 2009 – Morrison Springs. From the view of someone still new to diving. I am OW, Advance and Nitrox certified. Today made my 29th, 30th, and 31st dives. It was a beautiful day; warm and sunny. In fact at one point it got to almost 80 according to car’s temperature “gauge”. This was a planned trip for me to do a night water dive in preparation for diving the keys in July. My dive buddy was Flaski. After a really good lunch at Sally’s, we headed to Morrison’s. As I never saw Morri...
