Kewalo Pipe is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in Oahu, HI. This dive site has an average rating of 3.94 out of 5 from 32 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 36-40ft/11-12m. The average visibility is 51-60ft/16-18m.

This artificial reef is named after an underwater steel pipeline that is now broken up into pieces. There are several finger reefs to be found here interspersed with sand patches. Keep an eye out for the variety of juvenile wrasses to be found on this dive. This is a great spot to find octopus, leaf scorpion fish and the devil scorpion fish. Moray eels and turtle usually here as well.

jacobkerr - 10/16/2015 9:56 AM Rating Added: 4 There a lot of fish in and around the pipe, I would say more then I saw at Sharks Cove snorkeling. The wave surge even at the bottom is pretty intense here and makes these cool mini sand storms on the bottom. the markers for the pipe are all well under water and I feel a great deal of luck is what helped me find it. There is a well grown over white no wake buoy that we went to and then started heading parallel to the beach and bumped into the pipe maybe 150 feet away. Again careful with the wave surge you dont get pushed into the coral or worse all the urchins. if you did this as a shore dive plan your return trip well to avoid ending up in the suffers at the wave break adjust for the current and the waves pushing you to the west. I learned that body surfing in full gear is less fun than I thought.

Anjelamae - 10/17/2008 3:12 AM This is a boat dive which follows an old (no longer used) sewer pipe at a depth around 50-60 feet. Multiple species of fish, coral, starfish as well as moray eels. Visibility was pretty good through both dives. The two dives here were my second two open water dives. I was not properly weighted and drifted to the surface on three occasions. :( Also found a sea urchin, the wrong way. I learned a lot from these two dives though, and after finishing them, became a certified open water diver.
