Plane Wrecks aka Renaissance Airplane is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in Aruba. This dive site has an average rating of 4.15 out of 5 from 13 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 61-70ft/19-21m. The average visibility is 41-50ft/12-15m.

Great dive off the South West side of Aruba. Two Plane wrecks, an intentionaly sunk DC 3 which sits at 68 feet, fully intact with her gear down like she landed there. Visibility was only about 40 feet, but standard for September in Aruba. Very strong current forced a second dive to see the second plane.

The second is in four pieces, drug smuggling airplane taht missed it’s landing and ran out of fuel.. Not nearly as good, or abbundant in sea life as the DC 3 "Air Aruba" wreck.

The wreck of a Convair 400 airplane, known as the Renaissance Airplane, sitting in 80 feet of water. This is an interesting diversion to the usual wreck diving. Divers can swim through the fuselage, which has been stripped of its seats and any other structure.

The DC-3 is a tail dragger, the Convairs a more modern tri landing gear so one of these descriptions is wrong. RayC

RandyG - 11/07/2017 11:48 AM Rating Added: 4 I dove this site on 10/27 as part of a 2 tank dive. The visibility was great: 60+ feet. The water temperature was 82 degrees. Since this was a 2nd dive and our surface time was not long enough, we were only able to dive to 60 feet. The nose of the DC-3 sits about 60 feet deep. the cockpit windows are removed. The side doors are removed. You can swim from one side door to the next one. The other plane sits in about 40 feet of water. It is broken up into several different pieces. We swam around both planes and along the coral reef. Lots of marine wildlife. It’s very close the the Renaissance Island ( 500 yards off). You can visit this location by boat or from the island. We dove this site by boat.

mangoman1 - 6/13/2016 3:00 PM I went scuba diving here on 6/7/2016. Average viz: 51-60ft/16-18m. Water temp: 81-85°F/27-29°C. Great dive with DC-3 and S-11 aircraft swim-through fuselages, Tons of coral & fish life on topside. Divers in our group speared several lionfish too!
