④Popular diving spots:The diving areas are divided into (1) Naha & Chatan, (2) Resort area Yomitan & Onna, and (3) Northern Motobu & Hokubu.
(1) Naha & Chatan ≪Cape Maeda≫ For beginner to advanced divers
Features: This popular spot in Onna Village is one of the better-known spots in Okinawa. It is entered from the beach and is famous for schools numbering over 100 bat fish. Don’t miss this point if you like underwater photography. In addition to anemone fish, fire gobi, barracuda,and dogtooth tuna, you will also enjoy the drop off and the “Blue Cave.”
(2) Yomitan & Onna ≪Manza Dream Hole≫ For intermediate to advanced divers
Features: This exciting point is one of the best spots on the Okinawa Main Island. It is entered by boat and offers a mystical place where the water drops off to a depth of 25 m from the narrow vertical hole that forms the entry to the reef. The variety of fish include bigscale soldierfish,Japanese spiny lobster, dogtooth tuna, and pyramid butterflyfish.
(3) Northern Motobu & Hokubu ≪Minnashima Island & Sesokojima Island Environs ≫ For beginner to advanced divers
Features: Divers mainly enter this spot from a boat and it offers a variety of topography including drop-offs, tunnels, white sand, and coral reefs where you can encounter such large creatures as dogtooth tuna, giant trevally, and spotted eagle rays. There are many popular diving spots that include the Sesokojima Island Labyrinth, Minnashima Island Mermaid, and the Cabbage Patch.
