Baldwin Beach - Lake Tahoe is a shore accessible fresh water dive site, located at Hwy 89, South Lake Tahoe, CA. This dive site has an average rating of 3.00 out of 5 from 1 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 81-90ft/25-27m. The average visibility is 11-15ft/3-5m.
From South Lake Tahoe head North at the ’Y’ onto Highway 89 about 1 mile North of Fallen Leaf Lake Road and the Forest Service Visitors Center. There is a five dollar parking fee. Once in you have the choice of the south or north beach. Both are very similar, except that Tallac Creek meets Lake Tahoe at the north beach.
Parking fee, picnic tables, no shade, bathroom but no showers. Good beginner location that turns advanced with a 35 degree drop into the depths about 800’ out from the shore.
Beach entry not far from parking lot. Shallow for the first 800’ (5-16’) depth until you arrive at a 35 degree drop-off. Not much to see except for crawdads. Have information that had I gone left further I would have found submerged trees.
Caution: Dive location is close to Camp Richardson (east of location), which has a boat launch. Lots of boats in the area. The Tahoe Queen (Big Paddle Wheel Boat) passed near to my flag during the dive. Very deep rumble noise under water.
In October it is a good dive to the east and search under where the boats are during the Summer.
