Manchones Reef Mujeres Underwater Museum aka MUSA is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo 77400, Mexico. This dive site has an average rating of 3.53 out of 5 from 15 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 26-30ft/8-9m. The average visibility is 51-60ft/16-18m.

The Museo Subacuatico de Arte (otherwise known as the Underwater Museum) is an underwater museum with no walls, guides or descriptive plaques.
This unique installation of sculptures by artist Jason deCaires Taylor was designed not only to encourage appreciation of the arts, but also to draw traffic away from nearby natural reefs, which were starting to bear the strain of 750,000 visitors a year.

The museum comprises more than 400 original sculptures, which also serve as artificial reefs. Many are of human figures, making the ocean floor resemble some beautifully spooky lost world, its inhabitants frozen in space and time.

MUSA is divided into two galleries, one of which is accessible to both divers and snorkelers, the others to snorkelers only. To visit, contact a Cancun dive or snorkel operation such as Delfin Diving, Aquaworld or Squalo Adventures.

jared-m - 2/04/2024 3:10 AM I went scuba diving here on 1/28/2024. Average viz: 41-50ft/12-15m. Water temp: 81-85°F/27-29°C. Despite rough seas and incoming rain (to the point that the harbormaster had initially closed the port in the morning, but reopened it because the weather wasn’t as bad as anticipated), the visibility remained quite good for these dives. There was a decent amount of current, but a great experience all-around. A lot of the sculptures have acquired a considerable patina of coral, algae, etc. to lend them a sort of otherworldly ambiance. We saw Antropocene (the VW Beetle), Silent Evolution and Silent Evolution II, Biomap, The Banker, The Dream Collector, and Man on Fire on these dives, as well as abundant sea life both around the exhibits as well as the surrounding natural reefs. JMH115 - 3/01/2016 1:44 PM I went scuba diving here on 2/28/2016. Average viz: 81-90ft/25-27m. Water temp: 76-80°F/24-27°C. Sort of a "check the box" dive. You want to say you saw it but not super exciting. The whole thing is kind of brown. No color. Very few fish. Good to take a few pictures.
