This ex-gravel pit has become a beautiful little lake with generally good visibility (dependent upon season and weather), plenty of fish and vegetation, underwater platforms, a navigation course (tough), little shipwrecks and structures to dive on and an easy access to the water. Visiblity can be from 25-40 foot from November through May; 20-30 foot June through early July; and at it’s worst 10 - 15 foot + generally in mid July through mid September.
No power boats permitted only trolling motors on pontoon boats (and only a few at that).
Moby’s Dive Shop offers rentals, Specialty classes and dives and fitted equipment for sale.
Our website is
mobysdive.com and "like us" on facebook to see many pictures and videos of the lake.
Moby’s Dive Shop is adjacent to Versluis Lake. A quiet lake that offers a great (easy) place to scuba dive.
The lake varies in temperature and visibility, depending on time of year, but average visibility during the season of May - October is decent (50 foot in June of 2017).
Many things to look at and dive on, such as platforms, a sophisticated navigation course, plexiglass dome, shipwrecks, plenty of fish, a corvette body, and more. Great for practice, training or play.
The on-site shop provides air, rental gear, a port-a-potty (June-October), training, try-scuba experiences (scheduled) and service as well as gear for purchase.
Moby’s Dive Shop has been in business since 1994 and has certified thousands of divers from basic scuba up to Instructor level.
It is a great (easy and convenient) place to conduct dive training, with set-up benches, easy access, platforms for drills and a briefing area as well as changing area and picnic table for lunch afterward.
Temperature and Visibility:
November through May it is cold and visibility will be about 25-35 foot. In June through mid/late July the temperature generally climbs to 65 degrees from surface down to 15-20 feet with visibility as good as 50 foot some seasons but can expect at least 20-30 foot visibility. Below 20 feet temperature drops by 10-15 degrees then lowering to about 55 degrees at max-depth of 45-50 foot. Visibility here can vary dependent upon weather and if the river floods into the lake which happens about every 7 years.
Groups are welcome and team-building discover scuba opportunities (as well as individuals) are available (please schedule). A great place to keep your skills in check and get your gear wet.
