The Aquarium is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in Bermuda. The maximum depth is 36-40ft/11-12m. The average visibility is 26-30ft/8-9m.

Title Fish Named for the variety of fish to be found here. A little like swimming in your own aquarium? Everything is said to be BIGGER at the east end of the island. This site stays true to that claim.

The breaker reefs form arches and swim through’s. Dramatic, vertical walls reaching to the surface and a diverse variety of sea life are to be found because of the nutrient rich waters traveling in and out of the nearby natural harbour of Castle Harbour. Divemaster Notes

ReefHuge Tarpon are the thing that immediately catches the eye. These massive fish, often in excess of 7 ft. will follow you around the site. This can be slightly intimidating, but to date I’m unaware of anyone being injured by a Tarpon or at least admitting to it. Dig in the side for a little while, the nature of the Tarpon is defiantly inquisitive, they won’t be able to avoid coming and seeing what it is you’re doing. Pay attention though. I’ve seen people jump out of their skin when they suddenly realise they have help. The shallow hard pan area where the rock structure meets the coral reef provide many of these patches of sand, which in addition to entertaining the Tarpon also give habitats for Cowries and Trumpet Tritons. Lizard Fish and Razor Fish can also be seen.

Anemone Look closely under ledges for Spiny Lobsters and Spanish Slipper Lobsters. Leopard Flat Worms and Gold Crested Goddess and other Nudibrach an be found, but you have to look closely to find them as their nature appears to be to try and avoid detection. Unlike the Tarpon whose nature appears to suit that of a fish wrapped in foil!!!

The shallow reef at 15 ft. drops like A Mini Wall To 45 ft. to a long sand corridor that separates the shallow reef from the boiler reef. These breakers reach from 50 ft at their base, to within inches of the surface. With vertical faces, where 2 boilers meet, swim-through’s and arches are formed creating sheltered homes for our friendly Tarpon and some huge Groupers. With a flashlight, check out all the crevasses for Lobsters and Eels. Spanish Slipper Lobster and Glass-eyed Sweepers can almost always be found.

For that special treat, keep your eyes out towards the south and the open ocean as Turtles and Eagle Rays heading to the sand flats of Castle Harbour are often seen, especially during tide changes.
REMEMBER.... THE REEF IS FRAGILE! PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH OR TREAD ON LIVING CORAL.
