National Aquarium AKA Baltimore Aquarium is a shore accessible salt water dive site, located at 501 East Pratt., Baltimore, MD 21202. This dive site has an average rating of 4.00 out of 5 from 17 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 16-20ft/5-6m. The average visibility is 101-110ft/31-34m.

Local dive shop offers an aquarium diver course. The class is at the aquarium...a couple hours of lecture followed by two dives, one in the coral reef tank and the other in the wings in the water display. Unfortunately they do not let you dive in the shark tank. You provide the mask, fins and wetsuit everything else is provided when you arrive. Water very shallow. For the wings in the water tank it is best to just kneel on the bottom that way the animals come to you. Very friendly turtle that enjoyed trying to bury it’s head between my legs. Something that is neat to do once to say you dove in the aquarium but it is pricey.

Atlantic Edge Dive Center is proud to partner with the National Aquarium in Baltimore to offer the best diving in Maryland—two dives in the Aquarium’s most popular exhibits, the Atlantic Coral Reef, and Wings in the Water. Led by professional dive staff, participants will be taught the basics of Aquarium diving before taking the plunge into our world of rays, sharks, and 53 species of fish. As you swim amongst these fascinating creatures, you will also learn the role divers can play in reef conservation and how to be a steward of our precious natural resources.

Prerequisites - Must be a Certified Diver. Must be 18 years old.

This was a fun dive. It’s not as good as the Tampa aquarium, Epcot DiveQuest, or Georgia aquarium dives. This is mainly due to the lack of sand tigers or turtles (or manta or whale sharks in GA), but they’ve still a ton of fish, rays, a tiny bonnethead shark, and some cool moray eels. You swim around in a circle while aquarium guests watch you from the other side of the glass. It’s odd that you bring much of your own kit. Most other aquariums seem to freak out about the possibility of contamination, or maybe liability, and restrict the use of personal gear. The feature of this dive seems to be the PADI Aquarium Diver speciality card for the additional $40. Blue World did a good YouTube video about diving the National Aquarium tank.

Nice dive with sea life, must use their equipment. Maxed out depth at 14 feet, 45 minutes was allotted.

Able to get PADI aquarium certification.

Atlantic Edge was great, but the environment is very tight and only 13’ Deep. I had a tough time moving around without bumping in to glass and decor. Luckily, there is no live coral to harm. Fun interaction with fish and spectators alike!

Dove here yesterday. Good fun! I’d suggest it to everyone. While your at it, might as well get the PADI Cert they offer, Aquarium Diver.

DIve staff was great! Dive was 13 feet only and narrow! My equipment set up ( weight) was way off so I sank like a rock. I would prefered to use my own gear as I had a hard time adjusting to thiers...Lots of friendly fish....

Some really interesting fish, lookdowns, surgeonfish, triggerfish, zebrashark; the surgeonfish had a lot of skin diseases and lined up for my cleaning station. I had mixed emotion of liking spending time with them, and wishing they were healthier and free in the ocean.
