Koko Craters - Oahu HI

Loading...
Koko Craters is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in Oahu, HI. This dive site has an average rating of 4.24 out of 5 from 17 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 36-40ft/11-12m. The average visibility is 71-80ft/22-24m.

Koko Craters is most likely place to see turtles on a diving trip to Oahu. And it’s only about a 10-15 boat trip from the Koko Marina in Hawaii Kai. The turtles are always sleeping here, or swimming around looking for a place to sleep. Normally they are under the ledge sleeping. I have never dove here and not seen turtles. There are lots of small fish swimming in the area, and look in the holes for eels. (normally always there also) Nice easy dive with great viz, but sometimes the surge moves the sands around. So difficult to get good pictures during the underwater sand storm. :) Normally this is not the case. of Koko Boat Marina located in Hawaii-Kai’s upscale neighborhoods is a interesting dive point called Koko Craters. The boat ride takes about 10 minutes or less and the view is extremely rewarding. Views of Oahu’s south side and Koko Crater mountain is very cool. To the west you will see the "other" side of Diamond Head however it does not have that classic look whatsoever :(

I went scuba diving here on 9/30/1998. Average viz: 36-40ft/11-12m. Water temp: 81-85°F/27-29°C.
First dive as a certified Open Water diver. Lots of turtles. Found a cleaning station, the green turtle that was there let me approach as close as 4 feet. Cleaner wrasse were crawling all over their customer. Bottom structure is mostly old lava piles and rubble. Not much for soft or hard corals. Lots of big fat Morays.

Fun spot...lots of white sand that makes for good visibility.
