I went scuba diving here on 7/28/2012. Average viz: 5-10ft/2-3m. Water temp: 56-60°F/13-16°C.

This was for the inland Lobster feed Dolphin Divers puts on at the Negro Bar campground. It was in general a great time. Divers were taken upstream to a dropping point below the prison and we caught the current downstream. WOW! that was a wild ride. If you were not at the bottom and were mid water you were totally twisted around and cannot tell which end is up. My bubbles were flying behind me.

Its definately not a ride for the faint hearted nor those that dizzy easily. The dam was letting out a good amount of water and it was a wild ride downstream. To bob and dodge boulders is pretty exciting and challenging at the same time. Look out Mr. Toads - this is a better wet and wild ride.

Once I passed under the second Bridge in the blazing current, I surfaced and took a break. Renee went to the boat and I continued downstream with Bill. He found a Mountain Bike he chose to ride underwater in the current (LOL) all the way to the picnic.

not much to say. its murkey, muddy, and you will find some stuff there. Its not a very exciting place to go but a good place for serch and recovery, or rescue scenarios.

Good to get wet and practice. So far I dove Negro Bar($10 parking), Willow Creek ($5 parking)and just outside the cove at the Folsom Powerhouse ($5 parking). Depths were about 12-15 ft going straight out from Negro Bar boat ramp... about 15 -23 ft going out from Willow creek boat ramp...and 30 feet just outside the cove at the Powerhouse. Vis has always been bad for me, but its been good training. Better vis in the summer when the snow melt calms down, if Folsom Lake has high inflow, then it gets murky, which in turn makes Lake Natomas murky.
