The Okinawa began as a 107-foot vessel built in New Orleans in 1953 for the U.S. Army. The ship retired from service in 2001 and was named in commemoration of the 1945 WWII Pacific battle by the same name. Shipwreck Park seeks to sink the Okinawa, placing her among other shipwrecks as the Park’s newest diving attraction on this magnificent artificial reef system.
Shipwreck Park Inc. and South Florida Diving Headquarters bring you a new wreck dive site, the Okinawa!
The Okinawa is scheduled for deployment August 19th at 10 a.m in 70 feet below the surface about a mile from the Pompano Pier.
