Inchcape 1 - shipwreck is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in United Arab Emirates. The maximum depth is 91-100ft/28-30m. The average visibility is 26-30ft/8-9m.

The wreck of Inchcape 1 is one of the UAE’s most beloved dive sites! Before becoming part of the East Coast’s flourishing marine ecosystem, this majestic ship was formally known as Grey Swift 2 when in service as a crew/supply transport vessel for the oil industry.
Built in the USA back in the early 70s, it was soon shipped to the UAE to begin service with Inchcape Shipping, originally in RAK then later in Dubai and Fujairah. In 2001, the ship was decommissioned and purposely sunk as an artificial marine habitat. The wreck now rests 30 m down on the sandy bottom, positioned upright almost perfectly on its keel. The 18m long metallic structure has since transformed into a colourful artificial reef that supports an abundance of marine life!
Adorned in blooms of swaying soft corals of pink and purple tones, with plenty of critters hidden in between – Divers can expect to see all of the usual reef fish here such as sergeants, surgeonfish, boxfish, bannerfish, butterflyfish, parrotfish and more, in addition to nocturnal species such as soldier fish, squirrelfish and cardinalfishes too. Shoals of schoolers such as mackerel, fusiliers, trevally and snapper are often seen in large numbers on the perimeter, occasionally not far from a curious batfish or two. It’s hard to miss the large honeycomb morays that peer out from the tires and cracks on the side of the ship…and make sure to keep an eye out for the large stingray (and occasionally turtle) that dwells on the sandy bottom.
This site is a haven for underwater photographers with so many macro species to be found here including nudibranchs, gobies and even seahorses. With all of this more, diving the wreck of Inchcape 1 is truly the ultimate adventure.
