Snoopy Deep Reef is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in United Arab Emirates. The maximum depth is 71-80ft/22-24m. The average visibility is 26-30ft/8-9m.
Located approximately 500m east of Fujairah’s famous Snoopy Island, lies the dive site ‘Snoopy Deep Reef’.
As the name suggests, this dive site is at the deeper depth limits with the bottom reaching around 24m down - so divers must be at least Advanced Open Water to dive here. The site itself features the wreck and trailer of a small diving boat that was purposely sank to serve as an artificial reef environment, attracting an abundance of marine life to seek shelter within and around the wreck. The metallic structures are now encrusted in both hard and soft corals, providing habitat that supports a whole host of reef fishes and other aquatic creatures. Many of the usual reef fish are found here including angelfish, boxfish, schools of snapper and a number of colourful wrasse species- just to name a few. As with all wrecks, moray eels have taken up residence in the many cracks and holes provided by the boat’s frame. In addition to the wreck itself, tires and ropes have also been laid out on the sea floor to expand the artificial habitat.
This is truly a great site for both macro-lovers and underwater photographers who will enjoy seeking out the hidden tiny wonders that now call the wreck home. Divers with a keen eye may also get a chance to spot the elusive and well-camouflaged seahorses that perch on the railings and ropes throughout the site.
In order to protect the fragile environment below, there is no anchor line used for descent. Divers will be asked to kit up on the boat and enter the water using back-roll entry, you will then follow your guide down to the bottom to begin your exploration.
