Instructors lead international summer diving and marine science programs for middle and high school students.

Broadreach hosts dive programs in various locations, with St. Martin being our largest program destination. Dive instructors often introduce students to diving and lead Open Water and Advanced Open Water courses, while acting as role models to students on our trips.

Instructors are expected to be flexible team players that foster a fun, safe environment for students to thrive and explore new places, cultures and activities.

For our Caribbean programs, dive instructors will be paired with a marine biologist, a skipper or another dive instructor to lead liveaboard programs. These programs are based out of St. Martin. Students and instructors live on catamarans and monohulls, so previous experience living in close quarters is a plus.

For our World programs, dive instructors lead programs in different locations, including teaching more advanced diving skills, conducting field research or assisting with a more academic, marine biology-based program. These programs may include both land-based and live-aboard experiences.

For both program types, Instructors supervise students 24/7, facilitate positive group dynamics, lead games and assist students with cooking and cleaning duties.

Qualifications:
PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certification with active teaching status.
Experience teaching diving to teens/young adults.
Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification or higher preferred.
Able to participate in outdoor adventure activities such as hiking, snorkeling and community service activities.
Great communication skills and a professional demeanor to serve as a Broadreach ambassador.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, able to work without direct supervision and adaptable to often changing, dynamic environments.
Strong organizational skills to manage budgets, program expenses, student documents, etc.
Able to work without direct supervision and adapt to changing dynamic environments.
Comfortable living and working in a group environment with more rustic living conditions. E.g. camp, hostel, liveaboard boat.

Preferred Qualifications:
Background in marine biology preferred.
Experience working with students in a summer camp or similar 24/7 setting is preferred.
Experience in liveaboard situations on catamarans or other boats is a plus.
Some programs require a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
Must be able to attend staff training at the end of May/early June.

Most of our diving programs are based in the Caribbean out of St. Martin, and this is where most of our dive instructors are placed. Broadreach also hosts our World dive programs in Bali, Bonaire, Mexico, Curacao, Fiji and Egypt.

Our season runs from May through August and contract length varies from two to three months, preference will be given to instructors who can fulfill longer contracts. Food and housing are included in your contract.

Broadreach is committed to fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion. We celebrate differences in age, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status and other characteristics that help broaden our perspectives. It is our aim, that all our staff, students and partners reflect and embrace these values.
