Oceanic CDx + Other Second stage

Hi everyone,

I’m currently using an Oceanic CDX first stage, which is a sealed diaphragm regulator. My second stage is an Oceanic Alpha 10, but unfortunately, the exhaust diaphragm recently failed and I’m having a hard time replacing it.

I live in Colombia, and Oceanic doesn’t have an official dealer or service center here, so getting original spare parts has been quite a challenge — supply chains for Oceanic are not the most reliable in this region.

I’m now considering replacing the second stage with one from a more common brand in my country, such as Scubapro, Mares, or Aqualung, whose parts and servicing are much easier to find locally.

👉 My questions are:

1. Is it safe and technically sound to pair the Oceanic CDX first stage with a second stage from another manufacturer?

2. Have any of you tried similar combinations? Any brands/models you’d recommend?

3. Would I need to adjust the intermediate pressure or retune the second stage?

4. Are there performance, safety, or warranty considerations I should be aware of?

Any input or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated! I’m looking for a reliable and maintainable setup without having to replace the entire regulator system.

Thanks in advance!
