There are a lot of liveaboards with sketchy exits :( I remember one that was pitch black below so we hung a chemlume stick by the exit so we could find our way to the bathroom. 14 divers going up that ladder in a fire would have been another disaster :(
With the exception of the Nai’a I think everyone I’ve been on required you to exit past the camera and light charging area which is probably where the fire started.
The real problem is most liveaboards are not US registered so this USCG ruling will not affect most of the trips we do :(
