I am a volunteer Public Safety Diver with the Fifth District Volunteer Fire Department, located in Clarkesville, MD. We are actively recruiting divers to join our established team. The basic qualification we look for from new applicants are that they be a certified Rescue Diver from any agency with experience diving in adverse conditions, although exceptions can be made on a case by case basis. All other training will be provided by the department, including, but not limited to Public Safety Diver, full face mask, dry suit, deep, night, and ice diver. All gear used during department operations and training is provided by the department. We are the only public safety dive team serving Howard County, and also provide mutual aid to surrounding counties as requested. As a member of the team and the FDVFD you will also be provided the opportunity to attend firefighter and EMS training courses at no cost as well, if you are so inclined.
