How did you receive those awards? What did you have to do?

To be eligible, you must have completed 100 post cave training dives. You have to present the logbook to an NACD or NSS-CDS instructor to review & sign off on paperwork. Then you must email or snail mail copies of the paperwork & Certification to the respective agency. The Wakulla came in the mail with a letter stating that a certificate will be issued at their next Workshop & if I am not there, would then be mailed out to me. I got notice on FB from the Abe Davis Award coordinator that their award was mailed out.

Cool, I didn’t realize cave divers had awards like that. When recreational divers reach 100 dives, we are just supposed to dive naked.

The thing with the awards is, they are used as proof of a diver’s experience. There are some systems in which you must have a minimum of 100 dives, plus usually, membership to the agency that may own the property that the cave system is located on. NACD has a couple sites, as does the NSS-CDS.

A slight correction, NSS-CDS owns a few sites, NACD does not.
