I use Subsurface. It id available for Windows, Mac, and Linux and has mobile apps for Android and iMac. Very nice dive log that downloadd from a
wide variety of DCs with lots of information. Has bluetooth capabilities if your DC has that. And it is free.

I only upload to my phone an Android. Looking at Subsurface in Play Store not many good reviews. Do you use an IPhone? Are reviews better. Also like the PC part. Not available in DiveMate.

No, I use Windows and the Android app. I haven’t really read the reviews, I just know that I’ve had a very good experience with Subsurface and love it. And actually, I have heard more negative comments from Mac and iPhone users on another dive forum than I have for Windows/Android. I currently use a Suunto Vyper Novo, my wife has the Vyper Air and we have no problems at all. But then, I download to my PC and then sync to the Android app. I haven’t been able to download directly to the app yet but I still try occasionally. Don’t know just what the problem is and haven’t really had the time to delve into it. If your DC has Bluetooth, that may make it simpler and easier, but I really don’t know since the Suuntos we use don’t have that function.
When you first use it, it will download all the dives on your computer. If there are dives you don’t want downloaded (for example, you bought a used computer and don’t want to log the dives from the previous owner, you can either uncheck those dives before downloading or delete them afterwards. If you have dives that are not on your computer, you can enter them manually.
But like I said, it’s free, so if you download it and it doesn’t work for you, all you’ve lost is a little time.
BTW, the reason I even looked for a 3rd party dive log is because the Suunto logging program, DM5, is a total POS. Love the computers, hate the software.

After reading your post I downloaded Subsurface to my PC. Found that Divemate directly imports to it! Imported from my Divemate on Android to my PC worked great although I did lose a dive or two. No problem just added them manually. So I think I’ll continue to use Divemate on my phone as it gives me a chance to record dives while still at the dive site and then use Subsurface on the pc at home to maintain a backup record. Thanks for the info and input. Having a redundancy is a great way to ensure I don’t lose my log book. BTW Divemate also syncs to my google drive account and my dropbox account and now to Subsurface which lets me add info as I can. Lots of great features

I haven’t read the reviews either but I use Subsurface and recommend it to everyone. I don’t understand why someone would give it a bad review unless it is from competing software.
I use Subsurface on my Android and it stays on the boat in GPS location mode while I dive. After the dive, I use bluetooth to transfer my dives from my computer to the phone and then save to the cloud storage. It will automatically tag all the dives with the GPS location of the boat based on the time in the dive log. I then save to cloud storage. If I want to look at dives or edit from my computer I just open cloud storage.
Saving everything in the free cloud storage means I can access my dives wherever I want, either on my phone or home computer.
It is free software and much more than you would expect for the price. I have uploaded hundreds of dives in the last couple years without a problem. I also type in some rather long narratives on some of my dives, include students names and photos, etc. Works great.

Thanks for the input. Subsurface Android seems to have issues with certain phones and some of the sync features. Divemate doesn’t. In using both I found that Subsurface dropped dives when importing the log from Divemate. A second sync from the same file had the missing dives appear. Cloud storage is another issue. I

Divemate gives me the choice of Google drive backup a free service or Dropbox, also a free service. Subsurface is rated a 4.0 Divemate 4.4. I don’t mind paying a one time cost as long as I get what I need. For my Android, Divemate does the job well.
