 Atlantic Lionfish available in NYC :)

Today’s NYTimes Dining section mentions the Aqua Best seafood market in Chinatown has lionfish available. The Bahamian restaurant, Norman’s Cay, serves lionfish several ways and the chef is trying to generate interest on the part of other chefs in the area in using the fish. I’d like to think a demand on the part of restaurants other than a few in FL and the Caribbean islands might support ongoing harvesting efforts.

For those of you who haven’t tried it it’s a tasty white meat

Yum, wish I could find it around here some where. Might try and find some while in FLA next week.

Since we gave the name "scrod" eons ago to refer to the local catch off the New England coast, and "Mahi" was made up so people didn’t think they were eating Flipper, maybe we could give the Lionfish some colorful made up name. Let’s start a new "survey" to get some suggestions going.

We just need to start a rumor that eating "Atlantic" Lionfish is good for your sex life and the Asians will over fish it!

They need to start a rumor that eating Lionfish increases male "performance". If we can get the Chinese killing these like they do sharks, the Caribbean will be safe in no time.
