Latitude, off the shore of Southern California, you can take a dive boat to one of several oil rigs operating in 3 to 8 hundred feet of water. The boat pulls up, turns off the motor (for safety), and drifts. Everyone makes a mass quick exit of the boat and heads towards the rig 20-50ft away. On the legs there are fish, scallops, color and very cool crustaceans and tons of seals. Under the rig amongst the legs is a surreal environment. It is a really cool type of dive that should be done at least once. Visibility can be good to very poor with currents that can be an issue. You should have an advanced open water cert. or higher. Be safe, Kevin
