Was this at Annacapa Island? There was a seamount there that looked like grass at first but was millions of brittle stars.

no, this shot (and the shots near this photo) were taken in Monterey Bay along the jetty wall at "Breakwater". Normally you see a few here, but for some reason there are 1000s of them. Kind of looks like shag carpet in some areas. totally wild
