Man, that’s what I call some hard core diving! :)

Heh, thanks man! Those things turned out to be just about worthless. I hadn’t been up here since I scouted it two years ago, and the trail was a lot worse than I thought. This is in the Appalachian mountains in Pennsylvania, possibly the rockiest section (from what I have heard) of the Appalachian Trail. This is a dirt road we are on here, private community, I found a contact to get up there. The trail is up behind him off to the left. After about 200 feet up the trail we abandoned the Uhaul rented dollies and just carried it the rest of the way up. About a quarter miles straight up. Really wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, and much better than my original plan of 3.4 miles in from the nearest public road. :-)

Awesome man! Thanks for adding it to the dive site section. You need to get a couple donkeys to carry your gear next time :)

Hey! I just checked to see where you live! Dodge! I work (from home) for a company out of Montgomery (Teligistics.com). I do (or will do) several trips there a year at some point, where do you dive in that area?? They are right by Lake Conroe, figured I would check that out by kayak, but I wouldn’t mind finding a place down there to dive too.

That stretch of the trail looks better than from Wind Gap to Delaware water gap which I remember as being mostly rock but still I think I would have opted for using the pony bottle for an exploritory dive. Still fun and who knows what is buried in that silt :)

Oh dude, that isn’t the trail, that’s the dirt road we drove in on. The trail is up behind Shane and off to the left (you can’t see it in the pic). It’s pretty bad, the dollies were worthless and we had to just carry everything. It was also UP the mountain about a quarter mile, all rocks and logs. Typical AT in PA type terrain. I’ve hiked around this area my whole life, so a flat trail doesn’t seem like much of a trail to me, I am use to the rocks sticking out everywhere. There are sections of the AT here that are just boulderfields you have to make your way across, with the blaze marked on trees wherever one can be found or on the rocks themselves. Good stuff!

I dive at the Blue Lagoon usually, north of Huntsville, TX. You do not want to dive Lake Conroe, too murky.

Wow, that water looks really awesome from the aerial maps!! Only about an hour north of Montgomery, might be doable during summer months if they let me cut out at 5. I was also looking at Lewis Creek Resevoir, right beside Conroe. Water looks decent from aerial maps, but can’t find any info on whether they tolerate divers. (over the fence in the dark??... ha ha, just kidding)
