This picture is of the Naval prison on Jamaica Is in the Pisataqua river. The Pisataqua is the border between Southern Maine and NH. If you were in the military (Navy or Marines) and were sent to prison this was your hell. I believe it was closed in the late 60’s or early 70’s. The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard uses it mostly for storage now. I was a nice place to tour ( when I work at the shipyard ) but I wouldn’t want to live there.
