Yes that is kinda close to the shore. Define close. Half mile, maybe less. It should be doable with a kayak. I hope you get to enjoy it.

hey, was this recent? isn’t that really close to the shore in ft. lauderdale? i was planning a kayak dive there a while back w/ Kayuba the Kayak club down there, we never ended up doing it.
