Born and raised in Northern California, I began photographing the sunrise every morning out of the car window while we drove from Pittsberg to Danville for school. I then began photographing landscapes, particularly the mountain that breaks the sky in Danville, Mount Diablo. Once in High School I finished most of my academic classes and then in my junior year enrolled in Photo. I loved my instructor, and I loved the whole process of black and white photography. In my senior year I was a Photo TA, Enrolled in Advanced photo and in yearbook. Before this though a school known as Brooks Institute came into my photo class and that is when I realized my passion could be my career. Never before when I heard a lecture about college had I taken notes so ecstatically. I was enrolled, accepted and started September of 2004. Three short years later and a lot of hard work, including one 8 week session spent only on a boat (My underwater photography course), I graduated with a Bachelors. Now, Shani Studios is my company and I loving making photos, of people (and nature), that will leave lasting impressions. I am a rescue diver/dive master candidate. After being back in the bay area for 2 years and not knowing anything about the local diving I am finally working towards getting back into the ocean (or any other body of water).
