I got my open water certification in 1997 but didn’t do much with it, primarily snorkeling. I completed my Advanced open water cert this year (2014) and have set a goal to dive at least monthly. I am part of the Richmond Dive Club and go to Lake Rawlings with them monthly. I’d like to go to Haymarket and do some deeper diving (since that goes to 82 ft). I have snorkeled in the ocean on drift snorkel trips (I’m not sure if that can be considered drift diving!). I’m also a prior lifeguard/triathlete swimmer so I am very confident in the water. Sometimes that can be a bad thing. I’m described as a "conscientious" dive buddy :-) I’m open to further afield dive trips, but as a single mom, the budget it tight!

Haymarket (Millbrook Quarry) may not be a big improvement on Lk Rawlings. Its a good quarry, as quarries go. Was diving there this weekend, viz was okay (10-12 ft) above 35 feet, but there’s a sharp thermocline at 40 feet - very dark below that, night dive conditions.
