Hello, again. I haven’t been posting on this site for a while, but I’m still kickin. Lots to report since last spring. The Cayman Islands trip was great. We spent a week at Cayman Brac Resort and our dive guides were provided by Reef Divers. (Excellent)
We had great weather and the diving conditions were almost perfect. We dove 3 times a day for 5 days and 2 shallow dives on the sixth day. The reefs were beautiful and the sea creatures didn’t seem to mind us at all. Of course you are not allowed to touch anything either. Many different types of coral and beatiful swim throughs and caverns. We dove on a couple wrecks, one of which was an old Russian Frigate. We dove that twice, once at night on a full moon. Very cool. The most spectacular dive was Bloody Bay Wall. A 130ft dive. The reef slopes down from 60ft to 90ft and then drops off into the abyss. Even at that depth the different colors of coral and fish was outstanding. If you get a chance to go there, I reccomend it.
The rest of the summer was devoted to fishing and Lobster diving in The Keys. We did pretty good and still have a few left in the freezer. The last trip was in October to Islamorada. We dove 4 wrecks in 2 days.(Nitrox) Each dive was about 100ft. The current was pretty strong but once you got behind the wreck it wasn’t bad. Wrecks aren’t my favorite but it was great fun with the group we had.
Hope the weather warms up soon so I can get back in the water. Thats all for now.
I am still looking forward to all the new experiences and sights that will come from diving and I am looking forward to making lots of new friends along the way. Drop me a note, come to Florida, I have my own boat. Its only a 20ft Twin Vee but it will get us where we want to dive. John
