In May of 2005 my wife, Deanna, and I took a Discover Scuba Diving excursion in St. Thomas, USVI, and were bit by the Scuba Diving Bug. On June 19th of 2005 Deanna, my father Roy Sr. and I, were certified as PADI Open Water Scuba Divers. Since then, I have achieved the rank of Master Instructor with over 550 logged dives as of February, 2009.
My passion, besides teaching scuba diving and the various specialties that go along with diving, is underwater photography. My passion for underwater photography comes from the love of the underwater realm. It is the only way that a diver can share his or her experiences under the surface with others, as well as prove sightings, such as a seahorses, eagle rays, frog fish and many other “critters” that do not always lend themselves to being seen easily.
I have dove throughout the Florida Keys, Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, Jupiter, The Gulf of Mexico, St. Thomas, USVI, St. Maarten N.A. and the Cayman Islands, Canada and the Pacific Northwest, with hopefully more destinations in my future. I owe much of my success to Nelson Riollano, who was my instructor through Master Scuba Diver and the one who pushed me along and became a dear friend and confidant.
Nelson is one of the best divers you will ever see by far and one of the best instructors that is in the PADI organization. I would also like to acknowledge Dean’s Dive Center of Fort Myers and specifically Brent Argabright, who was a support system and driving force for my success. Most importantly though, I would like to thank my wife, Deanna, for supporting this passion and understanding my desire and need to dive and teach. She is ultimately the one who has sacrificed the most for my success and has done so without so much as a complaint or disparaging word.
