1st, are your sure the valve is leaking? it could be the simple factors of, the mouthpiece not being tight on the body of the regulator and are you sure that you have a good fit/bite on the mouthpiece? Ive seen where a diver has been in a position and or turned head and the hose can put the mouthpiece in a position that water enters on a inhale, If these are not a factor, then I would return it right away since it should still be under warranty

My side exhaust Oceanic reg breathes wet when I turn left but I’ve never heard of that on a Sherwood. Check the mouthpiece and if it’s okay contact LP, they have always been good about service.

Maybe it’s just the regs I’ve had, but whenever I’m head down, I tend to get water in the reg also. I think it gets in through the exhaust port.

Took it to the shop. They look over it and side it was fine. Going to break it in next weekend!

Hmm maybe one of those unexplainable situations, I have Sherwood Bruts and have never had that happen to either of them, but if the shop said theyre fine, then use em! As Greg said could be coming in through exhaust port when in a head down position, which could maybe correct itself at deeper depth. Anyway,, Good luck, safe and happy diving

Call Sherwood customer service and make sure you have a man. warranty. If you do then have your local auth. Sherwood dive shop check it out. Otherwise return it to Leisure Pro. Leisure Pro does warranty in shop whatever they sell. Your reg. should not be letting water in at any depth.

I don’t know about the Brut.
If you decide you don’t like it upgrade to the Mares Abyss, you will never look back.
I use the Mares Rover12 on my pony which is a lot closer in price to the Brut and that doesn’t breath to bad either.

Almost all of the regs I have had have breathed a little wet when upside down, or in extreme head down positions. If it was just a little wet I say it is probably normal, but if it was make you cough and gag wet, then you might want to be careful. I read that you had it checked and the shop ok’d it. Have fun with your new reg and, Keep your chin up. Pun intended.

Don’t put your facedown position on the surface. You’ll freeflow or get water into the reg. Nothing is wrong with the reg.
