Since we can’t see your diving history with you posting anonymous it’s hard to tell but many liveaboards prefer you to dive with EAN since help if you get bent could be hours or days away.
If you go to a resort where you could dive 4 times a day you’ll run out of bottom time on air.
Even a 2 tank boat trip could limit your 2nd dive breathing air.
And when you get old you might have circulation issues, remember the tables were written for young sailors in good health. So when you see an old diver and his tank says Gezzer Gas it’s EAN and he is using air tables for a safety buffer.
There are no check out dives required, just a test so yes, take the free course.

I do have circulation issues from type-2, which I have reversed. Nitrox seems the way to go. Thanks.

It’s a skill you’ll have should the need arise.
maybe it’s all in my mind but I feel better diving nitrox, well enough that its worth the extra money to me.

Personally, I rarely use air, limit usage to short >30 ft dives, 1/2 to 3/4ths of my tanks left filled with 32%, making them usable for about any dive where Nitrox is appropriate. As far as extra cost, consider what other expenses are connected to diving and it makes it not very relevant.

That’s not always helpful either.
I personally do dive with and have no problems with divers who have opinions I disagree with and whose advice I’d never use. Of course, there are different levels of diving, the more difficult, the more I require like minded divers. Call that "elitist" if you like, but I figure it’s my right to be selective, and seriously, I’m not here for advice, I’m here to socialize a little, I seek serious advice only from those I know are very qualified to give it.
