I went scuba diving here on 2/18/2017. Average viz: 5-10ft/2-3m. Water temp: 66-70°F/19-21°C.
First time doing the death march; pretty long walk through sand, but it was a decent dive despite poor conditions. With good visibility I can see this being a very enjoyable dive. Saw several horseshoe crabs, big flounder and other usual fish around the panhandle.

Helped move/stand up two unknown statues (an angel and a woman leaning on a small wall) and move "lost" anchors around for a search and recovery class. Thank you to whomever dropped the statues at the site! Really cool addition, I hope more are to follow and it turns into a statue garden like you see in the Keys.

I am headed to this spot at the end of June and am planning to snorkel all around this area. Id love to make sure that i can find this statue though...I was speaking to a dive shop out of PCB who has a charter in destin as well and they mentioned a statue. Not sure if it is the same one but would love to check it out. Can you give me an idea of where this is located?
SpacemanCraig - 5/14/2015 8:05 PM
The two statues are on the harbor side of the rock finger (Gronye) that comes out off the beach, and sit in 25-30 feet of water. Most snorkel charter services park their boats in this location, so finding them should not be a problem. The statues are only about 3 feet tall so if the conditions aren’t perfect you might not see them snorkeling on the surface...

Thanks for the info! Will keep a look out and hope to find them, your directions are a huge help! Thanks again!

OK for a shore dive although the walk from the car to the water is nothing for the faint of heart. Gulf toadfish, Gulf Flounder, Peacock Flounder, Coral Crab and Blue Crab abound.

Good dive but too many boats and fisherman. Did it from a boat and would never do it as shore dive, too far to pack gear.

Dove at slack tide today. Decent shore dive for the Gulf. Saw many toadfish and stone crab today but not much else. Some current but not too bad. Walked it with my wife. It was hot but a lot better than paying to be on one of those awful snorkel boats that crowd this site to no end.

Dove this a few years ago with my son. Walking to it is a pain, no doubt about it. Be prepared for a long walk through sandy beach. Actual dives though were great. We did one dive in the shallow side, only 8-12 feet of water most times.. found a mask, snorkel, even 20 dollars, so that was a nice dive.

Actual jetties were deeper, we were around 40 feet. current was there but not horrible. lots of small fish and crabs but nothing really bigger that day.

Was a great dive with my son so I have absolutely no complaints.
